CE VRF Assisted Start-Up Program

The following steps outline the CE VRF Assisted Start-Up process from pre-planning through final scheduling. Please review each section carefully before continuing to the request forms. Required documentation must be complete and submitted before an Assisted Start-Up appointment can be confirmed.

Step 1: Pre-Planning After Equipment Is Ordered

Once the VRF equipment has been ordered, the contractor should begin the pre-planning process with CE.

The contractor is responsible for providing CE with the project vPro file and any other required system information.

To begin pre-planning, the contractor will complete the Technical Support Form on the next page.

CE will review the submitted information and contact the contractor to discuss the project.

Step 2: Pre-Job Walk-Through

A pre-job walk-through may be scheduled during the installation process.

During this visit, the VRF Technical Support Representative may review:

  • System design and layout
  • Equipment application
  • Piping considerations
  • Control layout
  • Jobsite conditions
  • Potential installation concerns
  • Items that may affect start-up

The pre-job walk-through is intended to help identify possible concerns before the final start-up request is submitted.

Please allow at least two weeks’ advance notice when requesting a pre-job walk-through.

Step 3: Complete the Installation

Before requesting Assisted Start-Up, the VRF system must be fully installed and ready to operate.

The contractor is responsible for completing all installation work, including:

  • Indoor and outdoor unit installation
  • Refrigerant piping
  • Pressure testing
  • Evacuation
  • Electrical wiring
  • Communication wiring
  • Control installation
  • Condensate piping
  • Required clearances
  • Jobsite access
  • System documentation

CE does not perform installation work, repairs, or corrective labor.

Step 4: Complete Required Checklists

Once the installation is complete, the contractor must complete the required VRF and control installation checklists.

A separate checklist may be required for each system and control setup.

The contractor must also provide:

  • Completed VRF Installation Checklist
  • Completed Control Installation Checklist, if applicable
  • Updated or edited piping diagram
  • Requested start-up dates
  • Any additional information requested by CE
Step 5: Submit Assisted Start-Up Request

After the required documents are complete, the contractor will submit the Assisted Start-Up request on the next page.

The request must include all required documents before it can be reviewed.

Incomplete submissions may delay scheduling.

Please provide at least two weeks’ advance notice when selecting requested dates.

Step 6: CE Review and Scheduling

After the request is submitted, the VRF Technical Support Team will review the information for completeness and project readiness.

If the information is complete, the VRF Technical Support Representative will respond with:

  • Confirmation of received documents
  • Any required additional charge documents
  • Available start-up date
  • Any additional questions or requirements

CE will make every effort to accommodate one of the requested start-up dates, but scheduling depends on availability and project readiness.

A requested date is not confirmed until CE provides confirmation.

Step 7: Site Readiness Requirement

The full VRF system and all related components must be ready to operate when the VRF Technical Support Representative arrives on site.

If the system is not ready, additional fees may apply and the start-up may need to be rescheduled.

Site readiness includes, but is not limited to:

  • Equipment installed
  • Piping complete
  • Pressure test complete
  • Evacuation complete
  • Wiring complete
  • Controls installed and connected
  • Condensate complete
  • Power available
  • Jobsite access available
  • Required forms completed
  • Updated piping diagram submitted
